This story is not a good for us. They have lost him now. I’m talking about Aruni’s father. He is Karunarathna. He is about 48 years old. He has 4 children. They are studying now. Eldest girl is Anusha Madubhashini, she studies at University of Colombo. Aruni Pradeepika finished her A/L exam and then doing training at Slimline in Pannala. Chamara Pradeep, did O/L exam last December and the youngest is Darshana Prasad. They were doing farming and living happily in Mahavilachchiya village. Unfortunately one day they lost their happiness.
You would ask me, what happened to him? Aruni’s father was protecting his rice field which was close to Vilpattu. He was abducted by suspected LTTE. He never returned home yet. Where he is going and what happen to him? If anyone is keeping him please release him.
About 08 years ago, Horizon School was very small. But at present, it has come up to a certain stand arid with a big Computer Laboratory and a 24 hour internet connection free of charge. We had to operate without Internet for a longtime. We get Internet from Lanka com. All the children have online experience. Free-of-charge Internet access is given to 30 houses and public schools using Mesh technology. Due to the said present capacity of Horizon Lanka Foundation, foreign countries as well as the higher officials in Sri Lanka have taken keen attention about the foundation.
I’m study at Saliya Mala Viduhala in Mahavilachchiya. It’s a small Government school. At the time when I was in grade 4, I didn’t have much interest in studying English. But after the arrival of Mr. Wanninayake at Saliya Mala School, the students felt like studying English and that is in accordance with his comprehensive method of teaching and his calling over various kinds of processes which turned the students towards studying English. English subject is better than Sinhala subject.
He did extra classes after school time for us. We had our English class under the mango tree. We sat on the floor. I think you also know him. He is Mr. Nandasiri Wanninayaka. He is the only person behind our success in providing our village with computers and building a computer lab in Mahavilachchiya.
We have more facilities in Horizon Lanka. There are facilities to study, dance, play, use computers and excise machines and watch English movies. We lean more subjects such as English, Computer, Mathematics, Music, Sports and Science. Horizon students have personal web pages. Those are designed by themselves. We can use our English skills to design the web pages.
I have the internet facility at home. I think I’m too lucky for it. I’m using Internet to collect education articles, read newspapers, find new friends, write mails, chat with them and see new sites. My only dream is doing a job in graphic design and photography.
I participate for the classes at Horizon school because I can improve my computer and English knowledge and connect to the world. There are about 30 Mesh Houses around the village and about half of the total of villagers can operate computers and they have come to a position of reading newspapers through internet at their house by themselves. My parents can operate computer too. http://horizonlanka.org/news/mesh/kumar/kumar.html
Horizon Lanka started as a BPO project in Mahavilachchiya to create more jobs and develop our village.
At the inception of Horizon School, the students studied under the trees due to inadequate rooms in the school but this position has entirely changed at present and the students are very fortunate at present to study in a big computer laboratory with almost all the internet facilities.
Hi, I am Krishanthi Priyadarshani a former student of the Horizon Lanka. Today (December 31) is my birthday. I have a pleasant story to share with you today.
I studied at Saliya Mala Viduhala in Mahavilachchiya. It is a small government school. At that time I was in grade 4. I had no much interest in studying English before but after arrival of Mr. Nandasiri Wanninayaka at Saliya Mala School, the students felt studying English is fun. English became more interesting than our mother tongue, Sinhala.
Later we started Horizon School in Mahavilachchiya. At the beginning the students studied under the trees due to inadequate facilities the school had but this situation has entirely changed at present and the students are very fortunate at present to study in a big computer laboratory (which was donated by Mrs. Lovina Charles) with unlimited internet access.
I have a personal web page. It was designed by me. My only dream is doing a job in graphic design and photography.
I am lucky to get advanced computer training at Sri Lanka Tourist Board through the Horizon Lanka Foundation. First I want to thank Mr. Udana Wickramasighe, Director ICT, Sri Lanka Tourist Board for giving me a chance first. Mr. Wickramasighe had been visiting Horizon Lanka site for a long time while he was in Australia. After coming to Sri Lanka he saw some stories in the press about Horizon Lanka and contacted Mr. Wanninayaka to help us. I am improving my computer knowledge here and I am spending my time on it. The staff here is very friendly with me. I thank Horizon Lanka for taking me this far.

A housewife should have a good knowledge about the home. They participated the house work actively. They do not feel lazy on the work and has taken these work is a part of their day to day life. And the women do every work freely with interest.
When looking at their lifestyle. They have to learn how to clean the surroundings, about cooking and milking the cows. These women make up early in the morning and start the daily activities by milking the cows, cooking, cleaning the dishes and pots, helping they young ones to go to school, fetching water and taking water to the fields.
The village lasses do education as well as home work. They learn how to work at home and computer studies also.
Sri Lankan women works are very past. But any countries women very handle.
